Dr. Donnamaria Culbreth is the founder of National Girls and Women of Color Council, Inc. (NGWCC), an organization dedicated to advancing and advocating for girls and women of color by providing resources, mentoring programs, conferences and guidance. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty to address issues affecting girls and women of color and to bring people from all racial groups together. Dr. Culbreth was inspired to create an organization that would generate serious discussion surrounding skin color and racial barriers, glass ceilings and standards of beauty defined by mainstream America. Her efforts to eliminate popular stereotypes concerning girls and women of color have stirred positive conversation throughout her community.

Additionally, Dr. Culbreth is the founder of I Am Beautiful Global, Inc., Fabulously Fifty Women of Color, The Intraracial Colorism Project, Inc., It Takes A Village, and Complexity Publishing, LLC. She is also managing partner and consultant at Culbreth, Jung-Kim, & Severino, LLC, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Colorism Studies, the executive producer and host of Complexity Talk Radio – Complexity Live, a talk radio show that focuses on racial unity and addressing issues affecting people of color.  She has published two books, Live Life Beautiful: Affirmations for Girls of Color and Living Life Fabulous at Fifty: Affirmations for Women of Color, as motivational tools to help girls and women build positive self-esteem, self-love, self-identity, self-respect and self-pride.

Dr. Culbreth will receive the Community Hero Award at the Dunkin’ Donuts Greater Baltimore Community Hero Award Recognition Event on October 1, 2015 in Hanover, Maryland.  She plans to donate the award funds to establish the National Girls and Women of Color Scholarship Fund.

“I cannot think of anyone more deserving,” said Dr. Julie Jung-Kim, COO of I Am Beautiful Global, Inc., and Vice President of National Girls and Women of Color Council, Inc. “Dr. Culbreth is an amazing woman who is passionate about giving back to society through all of her projects which she funds out of her own pocket.”  “Dr. Culbreth is one in a million – our Superstar.”
